Yours Excellency,
I am deeply concerned about the fate of the Swedish journalist Dawit Isaak and other independent Eritrean journalists.
According to my information, the journalists have been detained, incommunicado, without charge or trial since September 2001, when the government shut down the independent newspaper they work for.
I am also deeply concerned about their safety and urge you to order the immediate release of all independent journalists, as a matter of urgency.
I call on you to immediately re-establish freedom of expression in Eritrea.
